How to Return Old Talismans and Amulets
Please bring old ofuda (paper charms) and omamori (amulets) to the shrine office.
All collected items will be ritually burned during the Ground Fire Festival (Sagichō ceremony) on 15 January.
Items That Can Be Burned
• Omamori (amulets)
• Ofuda (paper charms)
• Dorei (clay bells)
• Hamaya (ritual arrows)
• Shimenawa and New Year decorations
• Kakizome (New Year calligraphy)
Important:
Please remove any oranges, dried persimmons, bells, wires, or metal parts from decorations before offering them, as these items cannot be burned.
About Household Shrines (Kamidana)
Only kamidana that have been accepted in advance and purified can be burned.
Please do not place them directly into the fire.
Offering: ¥5,000
Items That Cannot Be Burned
• Large New Year decorations (e.g. kadomatsu)
• Kagami-mochi (rice cakes)
• Dolls or stuffed animals
• Photos, postcards, books
• Buddhist items
• Glass, ceramics, metal, plastic
• Bells (please remove them even if attached to amulets)
Weather Notice
The ceremony may be cancelled in case of strong winds or severe weather.
